Honestly, Misfits. I want more people to watch it so my random jokes and references won't be so random. But on the other hand, when I do say something and someone gets it, it's like the most euphoric feeling. LOL we're both just like OMGAAAH YOU WATCH TOOO!?

This is a hard one. Thinking about it, I'd have to say my favorite show ever...would be too hard to name. I love Gossip Girl. And So You Think You Can Dance. And Greek. And ANTM. but my favorite show EVAR as of now, would have to be Misfits. I haven't tried this hard to convince so many people to watch any other show in recent memory. It's starting to become a problem.

Easy. Flash Fuckin' Forward. In recent memory, I can't think of an untimely canceled TV Show that grabbed my attention within the first few moments and KEPT my attention like that one. I mean Heroes had me going for a minute, but it hit a plateau after a while. Flashforward had me on pins and needles. I even bought the DVD...like who buys DVDs anymore!?

I've even converted family and coworkers to the FF fold. I hope they come back with a S2. I mean, at least to wrap up that helluva cliffhanger finale Season One ended with. sheeesh.

That's me last winter. How've I changed? Well, for starters, I think I'm less naive when it comes to judging character. Back then I always assumed that people were good and wanted to help whenever they could. But now I know better. Not saying I don't think people are good, or that they don't want to help, but I know now what to look for in people who TRULY want to help others succeed in life, and how to differentiate them from those who only pretend to care about the well being and success of others in order to boost THEIR own. I see you. You ain't low.

OMG I think I'm a mad woman. That or my anemia is showing. For the past month or so, I've been craving seaweed. I can go through a whole 12 pack (and fiend for more) all by myself. It's like every week I'm at the grocery buying more seaweed. And I don't even eat it with rice or soup or anything...all by itself. I've tried to get ppl at work to eat it with me, I've got my family eating it, it's just so good. Speaking of, I actually need to pick some more up. I'm totally going to buy 2 bags (12 packs each) next time I go to M2M...

Nothing. I believe we're all equipped with the potential to reach greatness, that we're all already awesome (some just haven't tapped into or better yet, acknowledged their awesome) and that we all have the capacity to uplift each other. The older I get, the more I realize we're all the same light, just that the mirrors we hold up reflect different aspects of ourselves. Sometimes we'll come across others who are reflecting the same things we are, and they become our friends and lovers. When we meet people who reflect the parts of ourselves we dislike, they become our enemies and foes. But it's all the same light. We're all the same light.

Day 19- Nicknames you have; why do you have them

I have this theory that people only give you nicknames if they love/like you. Basically they're terms of endearment. And a nickname is totally different than you just dubbing yourself some name you'd rather be called (that's an alias) and like it's also not a shortened version of your name, imo. So like you know how my name is Tiffany? well, when someone calls me Tiff, I don't look at it as them giving me a nickname. They're just too lazy to say my whole name. ;)

Anyways, I've got a few nicknames given to me by a few peeps. My brother calls me "Daphney" on occasion, but he says it in a really thick southern accent...as if he were a highway patrolman from like the boonies somewhere. (don't ask). My grandmas calls me Tippy or Tip Tip mainly because that's what they've called me from a baby, and one of my cousins calls me DapNap...kinda a play on the aforementioned Daphney plus when I went natural, it was our inside joke. so on and so forth.

Day 12- Why did you make your blog(s).

There isn't a specific reason as to why I made SuperTiffny. As a product of the now, it's just something to do, a space to put my thoughts, and share things I'm interested in. I realized that now (with the onset of this year's goal to do a blogging challenge each month) that it's also a great way for me to chronicle my life as it is now. I won't be sharing any real personal details on here of course, but as a brief overview, it'll be pretty cool/interesting to look back at my life in 2012 and see what all I was interested in.

As for CrayonBeats, same thing, just now there's a focus of actually promoting the music I and Tiffology listen to, artists we find dope, as well as giving honest critiques and opinions on our own terms...no biggie.

Happy:I watch this when I'm happy, to get even more happy. It's almost impossible to not feel good listening to this song.

Sad:I listen to this because it's so pretty. Even if I'm feeling sad, the lyrics take me away and I feel better. Plus Justin is a dollface and I love his voice. :3

Bored:I play this whenever I have to wait in lines or something similar in nature. This song just gets my imagination going.

Hyped:This song gets me hyped. Good feels man.

Mad:I usually throw on this album because it makes me feel so....good for lack of a better word.I don't like dwelling in negative emotions, which is why I won't throw on some angry music. The instructions in the beginning to just let your mind wander really work. Hypnosis, son.

1. I was named after a singing group from the 60s (middle name).
2. I can kinda sorta speak Japanese and Korean. Well, more than "kinda sorta", but I don't get much practice anymore so I'm a little self conscoious about it.

4. I'm the only girl out of my siblings.

Chocolate Mini Twists

I've decided I'm going to do my hair in mini twists over the weekend. I haven't had them in a while, and with this fresh dye job, they'll look fabulous. =P

I kinda wish though, that I'd done them while my hair was red. I'm betting they would have looked cute, but....my hair grew so fast that the black roots would have been hideous (to me at least). So yeah...lol maybe some other time.

The lighting on this is weird...but yeah. Bye-bye red hair.

In case you're wondering, I just dyed my hair with Garnier Herbashine Chocolate Caramel # 535 about a week ago. Since my hair was an auburn/red it really turned out pretty...I think I'll keep it this color much longer than the auburn (which was a pro job...then darkened at home with Garnier Sweet Pepper). My hair grows too fast for bright colors. Like seriously, about a week later my roots were outtacontrol.

So brown hair it tis. :D

Yeah, so I started twisting and realized how much hair I have..and said fuckit. It woulda taken way too long. so...lol yeah. Gotta think of something to do with my hair until I put my weave in. =S

Seems as if I've neglected this blog for almost a year now....not that anyone was reading, but if so, sorry 'bout that. Ah, anyways, I'm going to try to keep up with this (and the four billion other blogs I'm blogging at) and post in a more timely matter. I know I know, I need to make use of the scheduled posts option, but that's no fun. I don't want to do this on autopilot...because well, that's no fun! And besides, it's more interesting for me this way.

Polyvore...oh my polyvore. While I hadn't totally abandoned it, I'm trying to make up for some of the half assed sets I've created over the past weeks. I'll probably be on polyvore more often than looklet, just as an FYI, simply because Looklet acts up every so often....

So my music webzine CrayonBeats is pretty much blossoming. I'm so happy and proud of my little blog turned website. Honestly, I never even thought it would grow as much as it has. I basically started CrayonBeats just like this blog...as a place to gush/gag at the music scene I was interested in, with litte elements of fashion and randomness. Now it's all growed up and stuff, with interviews, reviews, and even mixtapes...which brings me to OMFG WE'RE PUTTING OUT ANOTHER MIXTAPE!! WOOHOOO! (can you tell I'm excited?)

So when it comes to Drama With Tiffny, I actually haven't watched any Kdramas as of late, but I have been immersed in dramas from the UK...which I will blog about soon. :)

GIRL♥CRUSH: Koda Kumi

Or, as I've known her: KoKu. My first introduction to Jpop came by way of Namie and Koda. These two ladies embodied pop music back in the late 90s/early 00s in such a way that was new and fresh, even for a seen-it-all American, like me. If you aren't into Asian pop, let me just briefly say that the majority of pop music and musicians from Asia, are strongly influenced (and sometimes downright copied) from American pop. This was never truer than at that time, however, these two ladies mixed their American influences with their Japanese roots, creating something uniquely -to quote Crystal Kay- "Japanese-y". Koda Kumi especially drew me to her crazy, because she was, in fact, one of the baddest bitches in Jpop. Not only was she stylish, and had a "I don't care what you think, I'm hot and I know it" vibe, but she could actually sing and dance her ass of...but she could do it at the same time!

I'd been loving me some Namie and dared anyone to try to test her steeze, but when it came to Koda Kumi, for some reason, I wasn't more than a casual fan of her earlier works. I had liked the singles Take Back,and Trust Your Love, but it wasn't until I saw a live performance of Hands/Hot Stuff back that I was like- OK, this is my BISH! She just straight up rocked both songs and performances; I was so impressed. After that, it was all over! Her 12 singles were amazing. I loved the style concepts, and *most* of the songs. Also, since I'm mentioning it, her (stylist's) fashion sense is insane. Every PV she sets a new bar and blows it away. She's the only one I know that can pull off some of the crazy looks and still seem normal. Or pull of cute/sexy...which is really hard to do. Any girl can tell you it's a fine line between looking cute-sexy. It can go one way or the other and to balance that takes skill! LOL

Anywho, back to the topic at hand. Recently Koku has released her newest single Gossip Candy; releasing the PV for Lollipop to the masses. And while I've taken a break from Jpop for a few months--she's bringing it back! Work Bish, WORK. The fashion in the PV is stunning. The dancing in the PV is fresh. The song itself is just fly beyond words, and long story short: I love KoKu all over again! This song is definitely going on my summer playlist. No Doubt! Commencing Girl♥Crush....NAOW!

Style Inspiration: Rihanna by Tiffny featuring Report Signature shoes

Very rarely will my polyvore sets be "get her look" style. And even in my everyday fashion, it's not usual that I will try to replicate a celebrities whole outfit. Usually, I'll take an aspect of a look I like (like say, a jewelry piece, a coat/jacket, shoes, color scheme, etc) and then work it into my own interpretation--something that reflects my own personality. However, there's something about this look...something so very "Tiffny!" that makes me want it now. Each piece Rihanna is wearing is calling me...calling me in the very order she's wearing it. It's so simple, yet quirky. I've been told (and I agree) that my style is very simple and chic. I need this outfit. NAOW!

Mermaid Leggings

So it's been only a couple of days since I said I needed to track down those leggings modeled on Mermaid Tiff over there...and well, I FOUND THEM! Haha! I need to work for someone's fashion P.I team. Word. See, the thing is, unlike Polyvore, and Looklet (two of my all-time favorite fashion sites), Roiworld doesn't credit the designers whom they get their styles from...unless of course it's from Project Runway whom they're affiliated with through Lifetime. Oh, yeah, just to be fair, they've partnered with a few designers here and there so of course they'll list those items. However, it's a little frustrating when 95% of their inventory is comprised of designers, celebrities, and styles that really should be credited. Especially if there's someone like me, who would like to actually buy the looks (and don't give me the side-eye. I know I can't be the only one)!

Case in point; the "Mermaid Leggings" or as they are officially called, Geo Stripe Print Leggings...originally from TopShop! While it only took me a about an hour to two in total to find the leggings in the real world, it could have saved so much time if they'd just listed who/where they get the "inspiration" from. Also, since I've become a member of the site, I've noticed that Roiworld has also jacked ADIDAS, Jeremy Scott, Lipsy London, D&G, some more TopShop pieces, and the list goes on--all without crediting. They even did 2NE1's look- all the way down to ripping the girls' hairstyle...without so much as a mention to the Kpop stars. But, right now, I'm not gonna focus on the "are you kidding?" of Roiworld, because I do like the site. And besides, right now it's all about my Mermaid Leggings.

Anywho, like I said, I found them at TopShop's UK site, and OMG did I spazz out when I finally found them. Well to be exact, I found them on Polyvore (I fricken love that sight!) and THEN spazzed out. HAHA I'm talking the whole shebang! Jumping, and laughing like a mad woman my elation turned to disappointment when I realized that they were sold out. BOOOO! So I did what any self-respecting fashion nut would do and that's search on ebay. No luck there, I went back to the TopShop site and emailed them to ask if they'd get a restock...I must have those leggings! Especially now that I've found them! HAHA I feel a little crazy, especially since the inspiration came from a cartoon doll, but the more I think about it, it's not THAT insane...I mean, I dressed the doll using random (or not so random) items set up by Roiworld, kinda as if I walked into a RL store and went shopping...so it is my personal style she's sporting...and in a way...she's me...my little avatar. So There! hehe.

DWT: Cinderella's Sister (epi15)

So since the last DWT post, I've cleared a few more episodes and I've just finished number 15. I'm pretty much left with the same impression, in-so-far as my feelings towards a few of the characters, however, I have to say that the storyline has picked up a bit with the "revenge" part of the plot finally kicking in. I'm glad to see that Hyo Sun finally grew some balls and stood up to her evil step mother Kang Sook, but she's still annoying. I'm still over the pining relationship between Eun Jo and Ki Hoon and I just wish that Eun Jo would move the fuck on and focus on the company and Jung Woo (who's head over heels in love with her). BUT! Of course that can't happen, because then there'd be no drama...well at least there'd be no drama on that end. Going back to The Revenge Plot. I think it'll be interesting to see how this animosity between Kang Sook and Hyo Sun plays out. Especially since Hyo Sun was so sweet on her in the beginning. I wonder if it'll transfer over to how Hyo Sun interacts with her step sister Eun Jo...because even though they aren't close, Eun Jo has stopped treating her like she's a leper for the most part.

What's interesting to me though, is that even though Hyo Sun is still annoying as crap to me when she talks, it's almost crazy to see how evil she actually can be, considering in the beginning episodes, she was Cinderella and could do no wrong. And for all of Eun Jo's meaness towards her, I think her bad-ass side developed when Ki Hoon rejected her. From then on, she's been taking on the qualities of an evil-spoiled-little-rich-girl; which according to Korean Drama Protocol, is the worst character qualities to have. So far, she's been frighteningly manipulative, and conniving--and her threat to her step mother that "You ain't seen nothing yet", is making me ready to move on to the next couple of episodes...just to see what she's planning.

Oh, let me not forget, I wish Jung Woo would lose the country boy accent. It was cute at first, but now it's kinda annoying....he's been living at their estate for quite some time now, I think it's time they phase out his slurred tongue and slack jaw. Not only does that just make sense linguistically, but it would make his lines a little less grating. I understand his style of speech is supposed to represent his innocence and charm..but...le sigh.

Pretty much, these few episodes have left me with much to be desired from Cinderella's Sister, however there's still a glimmer of hope, a light at the end of the tunnel, that the next few episodes I watch will be great--just as much as they were when I first started the drama. I'm just hoping that light is not a train...

♥, Review: DollHouse Rogeri Boot

So a few days ago, I mentioned that I would do a video review on my new Dollhouse boots that I purchased from Endless...well, for some reason my laptop is not reading any video from any device--which is throwing a monkey wrench into a lot of plans. Not only did I plan to do this review on camera, but I also have an interview with J-rock band Lilac that I need to get off of the disks, edit and put up on CrayonBeats...like 10 yesterdays ago. This is not good. Well, I figured that since I cannot do anything with the Lilac interview until I can get it onto a working computer, the least I can do for '♥,Tiffny!' is take pictures of the boots and do a text review. Not as fun, but, hey...
So as I mentioned before, I'm in absolute love with my boots. I'd been searching for them for like, EVAR, when I finally came across them on Endless.com. At about 65 bucks, they were the cheapest I'd seen this style, save the Forever21 version that sold like hot-cakes for about half that. Anywho, I ordered them and received the free 2 day shipping, so that already made me happy. I've had them for about a week now, and I've already taken them shopping (to break them in) and to tell you the truth, they are the most comfortable boots EVAR! I didn't even really need to break them in, that's how comfortable they were! The first day I wore them, like I said I went shopping, and for those of you who don't know, I'm from The Bronx...and The Bronx is full of hills. However, my feet were fine, and I walked around for about 4 hours before I felt any discomfort. Even with the heels being so high, there's a lot of support for the arches, ankles and balls of your feet, so it feels like you're walking in sneakers almost. Almost. They still have the extra umph! you feel when you're wearing sexy heels, and I must say that I felt like a super shero as I stomped up and down Fordham Rd.

The second time I wore them out was last night, for The Lady Miz Diva's Miyavi event hosted at Kinokuniya. I was working the event, and wanted to look/feel like a super woman again, and these boots did the trick. I actually had them on for a full 10 hours and it wasn't until hour 10 that my feet started to whimper. And I want to assure you that it was a whimper, and not a scream! Compared to other heels I have in my closet, the pain I felt after taking these babies off was more on the scale of a poke than a stab in the pain factor. I think I'm in love. I don't know how Dollhouse did it, but these are definitely a keeper. I think I'll have to cop another pair for the winter months because I have a feeling I'll be wearing these until they fall apart!

Also, I got a lot of compliments on them, from almost everywhere I went. They look great casual (my first outfit was jean shorts, tank, and vest) as well as spiced up a little (above). I like that they're versatile and I can't wait to wear them with a pair of jeans. That's another thing I wanted to point out. The ankle opening has adjustable straps that makes wearing them with pants or jeans a snap. I hate stuffing my jeans into boots and getting that ugly scrunch look, so this was a definite plus for me. My legs are on the thick side, so I need to keep things as streamlined as possible, you dig? As far as the detailing goes, I squealed like a little girl when I saw the cute little bow underneath the arch. My mom rolled her eyes at me, but I don't care. Little things like that make me happy, knowing it's there. The laces are also fully functional, but they have a zipper on the inner sides to make for easy off-and-onage, which again, me likey. I like this because I can loosen the top and go for a more rugged look or keep them looking sleek. :) OOOOH YEAH! And speaking of rugged, I'm in love with the treading on the bottom. It makes for great walking on NYC streets, because you never know what you're going to come across, and going up and down on the stairs in the subway in heels can be hazardous, so YAY TREADING!

One thing I will mention tho, is that, as they are winter/fall boots, they did make my feet just a LITTLE hot with the lining and all, but obviously that would happen..it's like what, 90 degrees out, and I'm wearing boots. So I can't actually complain about that. That just means that they'll definitely keep my feet toasty come wintertime. Right? Right. Also, if you've got wide feet, I wouldn't recommend them, only because they narrow at the toe a little, almost like a rounded diamond. For me, this fit perfectly but it may be a little uncomfortable for some. I ordered them a half size bigger than my normal shoe size, only because I want to wear socks with them when it gets colder, and they fit perfectly, so I'd again, recommend getting a half-size up if you're interested in buying them.

Mermaid Hair

One of my favorite things to do online is play around with fashion and makeup. Well, actually it's one of my favorite things to do in real life too...but where was I? Oh, yeah- I earlier today, I was passing time on one of my favorite sites called Roiworld, which is a really girly (and GUY-ly!) site chock full of fashion and makeup games. Well, I was just about to sign off, when my eye was caught by one of the makeup games titled "Mermaid Makeup". I instictivly knew I'd love it (the makeup games are so fun!) so I clicked on it. And to my surprise, I saw this hairstyle that looked strangely familiar...

Now mind you, I'd seen this hair on one of the 'fashion' dolls (South Africa to be exact) but it wasn't that I'd seen it there first that made me all googly eyed towards it (which btw, I did get all *_* when I saw it in the fashion game). It wasn't until I'd practically finished making up the doll that it dawned on me that this was a cartoon version of me! OK, not exactly, but I'd almost had this exact hairstyle about 3 years ago, color and all! Since then, my hair has been dyed back to black, cut, and even dare I say it --relaxed-- and finally cut again, but no doubt about it, I'd rocked a look very similar to this a few years ago!

Going through my pictures I found the "evidence" of my Mermaid Hair, and falling in love again, I'm soooo wanting to pull this look out of retirement! But this time, I'm gonna have to use extensions (probably similar to how I have my hair done now) but I want it longer, wavier, and a smidge less full than how our Mermaid Tiff has hers (not too much tho, y'all know I love me some big hair!) . Maybe when I get tired of my next style (which I've made up my mind will be long twists) I'll do it like our Mermaid Tiff up there. The only problem is, that in order for this style to work (in my mind) is that I'll have to color my hair again (brown with blonde highlights). The problem with that is, I promised myself that I wouldn't color my hair again for a while because after my last color session about a year ago, I noticed my hair was becoming a little weakened from all of the chemicals. SO unless I can find a natural hair lightener that can handle my stubborn hair, then I might just do the Mermaid Hair in black with (insert color here) highlights....we'll see. Anywho..check this out...omg right!?

DWT: Cinderella's Sister (epi 7)

Yeah, you read that right. Since the last Drama With Tiffny, I've covered 6.5 episodes of Cinderella's Sister (it's just that good!) And I've already developed a drama-crush! I had to pause the video just to come post this...why? Well, because in this episode, Taecyeon is sooo adorable. Especially whenever he says 'noona' and gives his little smirk. I'm not even a 2PM...AM? fan like that, but that man is something gorgeous. I think I like him better as an actor.... Anywho, yeah...back to the episode: So far, I'm still loving the character Eun Jo, but I've come to really dislike Seo Woo's character Hyo Sun (in a good way if that's possible).

At first I found her to be adorable, stylish, and innocent...but now, she just annoys me. She's needy and whiney and a spoiled brat (which makes sense as she's the Cinderella). But I think that by now (they're in their late teens/early twenties I believe) she should be more grounded and stop using that baby voice....ugh. LOL it doesn't help that her face looks like a doll, but combined with the voice..it's just too much. It's so funny seeing 'fairytales' told from the other side of the looking glass, because I'm starting to think that were the real Cinderella's step-sisters given a say, they'd paint her in the same light. I just want her to grow the fuck up already. LOL I will say I felt bad for her when Ki Hoon snapped on her (for being said brat). He came out of nowhere with that. LMAO. Oh well. She had to hear it sooner or later.

This episode has more interaction with the younger characters than the older ones and I'm kinda glad about that. I was getting a little tired of Eun Jo's mom and her storyline....interesting, but not so much, if that makes sense. It's also nice to see Eun Jo smile more (how can she not...look at Taecyeon!) also, Ki Hoon's storyline is getting interesting...I'm still a little confused as to who he is exactly, in relation to Hyo Sun's father but I'm sure it will become clearer as I watch. And with that, I'm going to finish up this episode. Here's some Taecyeon pics to drool over =P

GIRL♥CRUSH: SISTAR

I blogged about their music earlier on CrayonBeats. Basically they're the newest Kpop girl group among a throng of other groups just like them, however, I'm really drawn to these girls in particular. I'm not really into who's popular now and can just barely even tell who sings what, who's in which group, and anything else...because they're all marketed the EXACT same way. Also, truth be told, I really don't listen to girl groups in general. I'm usually more inclined to listen to boy bands, and solo artists (m or f). However, with all of this in consideration, I found myself singing their song Push Push for a few days now, and each time I like it even more.

Style wise, I'm a little disappointed that their company chose to dress them up like all the other girl-groups in Kpop who are knocking off Rihanna's 'neo r&b/rock diva' look, but it's all good...I guess.

What I do like about their 80's mash-up style is that it's at the very least, the most wearable of all the girl groups out there. I think my favorite member would have to be leader Hyo-Rin. She's got a GREAT voice, and from some of the pics I've seen of them, I like the way they've styled her the best.

Anywho, I can't wait to see more from this group, and I hope their album includes a good mix of ballads along with the dance tracks. :)

DWT: Cinderella's Sister

So I've just completed episode 1 of Cinderella's Sister...and I'm hooked already! I can tell this drama is going to be different from the others I've watched as within the first few minutes, they had already tackled some issues that normally wouldn't be shown as...graphically? in most Kdramas. Of course it's nothing too intense, but for the genre, I think it's a really big deal. I really like the actors (two of my favorite veteran actors, Lee Mi Sook and Kim Gap Soo, star as the parentals) and I like that the story is a twist on the classic Cinderella we all know...a peek into why our evil step-sister is...well, evil! So far it's really good (haha yeah, I can tell even from the first episode!) Check out the trailer, and while you do that, I'm gonna start episode 2:

My New Hair

So I decided that I'm sick of doing my hair everyday, and while I love weaves (straight, wavy, long, and short) I've decided that I'm gonna stick to something a little more familiar. I got this in the texture that was closest to my own hair, and (in my estimate) how long/full my hair would have been had I not been forced to chop 80% of it off last year. -___- GRRRR!

Anywho, here's my new hair...I kinda love it. :) The front is my own hair and it blends really well with the extensions. I think for the rest of this year, I'm gonna give my own hair a break and rock this style (getting it newly done every few weeks of course..lol) ...at least until my b-day. I think I'll grab some color then hehe.

My hair grows actually pretty fast, so I won't be surprised if by me hiding it under this hair for a while results in something similar. Believe it or not, I think my hair grows faster when it's weaved up..probably because I'm not manipulating it and styling it everyday. I used to wear weaves a lot when I first went natural and it helped my hair grow so much. Even though I've got a good length on now, like my hair FULL. Super full. Whaddya think? :)

FINALLY They're Mine!

I've been on the hunt for a pair of cute girly combat boots for some time. Actually, my obsession with them began ever since I saw a pair on Forever 21 that were the "budget friendly" version of some of the more expensive lace up booties that were really popular last fall and winter. But being that I obviously was not the only one in love, they were sold out before I could blink. Ever since then, I've been looking all over the internet and stores trying to find a pair, and it seemed like everywhere I went (in NYC) I could never find what I wanted....but would see a chick wearing "my" boots!

After giving up on the search for about a month, something told me to restart the search, and wouldn't you believe I actually found a pair by Dollhouse at Endless.com and bought them immeshiately! (Unfortunately at double the price..but hey...)

I have to say they are pretty cheap all things considered, so I'm not really gonna complain about the price too mcuh. I'm just glad I finally got the boots that I've been drooling over for so long! XD You can tell how obsessed I've been over them: I've got tons of sets on my Polyvore acct featuring the boots, and similar styles! I can't wait until they get here (FREE TWO DAY SHIPPING! YAY!)

My Kpop Playlist -10/14 to 11/14

All righty! It’s that time again! Yep I’m clearing my playlist for some new(ish) songs and I’m gonna fill you in on what it is about them that can make me listen to them over and over and over and over. If you recall from my last post, I didn’t fully purge my playlist. I kept a few songs that I’m still not sick of and replaced them with a few that I was feeling at the moment. Well, it’s pretty much a brand new playlist this month, with the exception of two songs….

First, I’ll let you know that I’m slowly (very very slowly) coming out of my cave when it comes to modern Kpop. It’s like I said before, over the last few years, it’s just been really stale to me, but YAY for new and creative songs, acts and ideas because Kpop has once again, given me something to dance about. Now let’s get down to business:

The Replacements:

Lady Collection-LadySh: The newest to my kpop lineup, Lady Collection just might be my new favorite group. With their strong vocals, the group takes me back to the days of EnVogue–you know, when girl groups sang their butts off. Now that I think about it…it’d be really cool if Lady Collection did a medly of EnVogue songs just to show how badass they are.

Naomi-Calling: You already know I love me some Nao, and this gem from her newest album “Soul Child” is a real chill track. The reggae feel is great, and honestly, I think Climix Ent is doing her a disservice by not giving her more midtempo tracks with soul like this (and the other two I mentioned from her first release). Naomi shouldn’t do ballads so much, this style fits her voice so much better.

BoA-Feel Me: What is Kpop without BoA!? This was my favorite song from My Name, and I still love it. I remember at the time, this album sounded NOTHING like what was out in Kpop and for me, it really solidified BoA as the Kpop Princess. And what’s awesome is that over the years, she never lost that individuality regardless of what style she was signing.

StonySkunk-Buffalo 2006: Stony Skunk, one of Korea’s few reggae acts really rocked this song. I love how the song starts out. Plus Skull’s hyper-active flow gives an extra kick to the already energetic track. And S-kush’s controled flow is a great contrast to Skull’s. I think this is probably one of their best songs, and for Skull’s short lived Western conquest, this song would have exploded on the charts, had it been remade into English/Patois…and probably been a little bad-ass if they’d left in some of the original Korean lyrics.

Drama With Tiffny: Triple

It's been a little hectic around here, so this is a long overdue "Drama With Tiffny" post. I know it seems like I've been increasingly negligent with my DWT posts, but I promise it's not because the dramas are sucky. It's because I need a clone. Anywho, let's see, last time around, I was talking about Triple, the MBC drama about love and life told through ice skating. Well, don't fear because I'm still watching, I just haven't had the time to post about it, until now. Oh and just to let you know, if you haven't read my DWT's before, there is a possibility that they contain spoilers. Okie dokie?

Last we left off I was musing over the drama to ensue over Douchebag Oppa (Shin Hwal) being such a wishy-washy guy towards his estranged wife, who was in turn being chased after by Douchbag Oppa's roomate and best friend Hyun Tae. Well, needless to say Shin Hwal wasn't very assertive here either. OK, to give him some credit he did try to put his foot down, but it obviously didn't work because Hyun Tae is STILL overstepping his boundaries and punking Shin Hwal. This is actually bothering me a lot. Hyun Tae is cool and all, but he's really starting to come off as a bigger douchebag than Shin Hwal. I mean, it was cool at first when he didn't know they were together, and even when he found out it was sorta OK to try to woo Shin's wife...but now that Shin put his foot down and is actively trying to reconcile their marriage, I think the manly thing for Hyun Tae to do is give it up. But no, he's holding onto the dream.

And while we're on overstepping boundaries and all-around uncomfortableness, little Haru has developed romantic feelings for her big brother...and tried to kiss him. Well, she actually did kiss him. He reacted as a big brother should (ripping her off of him and storming away--and the award shunning of her afterward) and that was ok. It was actually understandable for her to have this one-sided crush on her older step brother who she's not seen for a long time...but now it's getting uncomfortable: Shin Hwal is starting to display romantic feelings for Haru as well. Um, creepy?! I know that Korean society is much more closer than American society, but this is just ridiculous. Even though they aren't biologically related, it's still :::skeeved shudder:::
BTW: After this drama, DWT will be posted in 2 parts per drama I watch (the first and second halves) just to make it easier for myself, and less redundant for you guys.

DWT: He Who Can't Marry->Triple

Ok, I must confess. I tried watching the last few episodes of The Man Who Can't Marry, but I just couldn't. It's why I didn't post up a DWT last week: I just couldn't bring myself to watch anymore of the drama...which kinda sucks because there were only a few episodes left. I was so disappointed with the way it was turning out and in my mind, the drama took such a turn for the worst that I'm not even curious as to how it ends...at all. Like I said in my last post, it was totally ruined by the rushed and ill conceived storylines; and so, I've lost interest. I'm kinda ADD that way, sorry about that. SO moving on I've decided I want to try another drama that might live up to my "classics". I figured I'd try Triple, the 2009 MBC ice skating drama from the writer and director who brought you Coffee Prince. Right now I'm starting episode one over at DramaFever....This has to be a better choice...right?

DramaWiki Plot Summary:

This drama is about a female figure skater, Lee Haru, who is hoping to make it big. Her life gets complicated when she reunites with her step-brother, Shin Hwal, after many years of being separated. Hwal's father and Haru's mother died tragically in a car accident. Hwal and his friends; Hae Yoon, Hyun Tae, and Sang Hee all work at the same ad agency. While Haru is trying to make her dreams come true, she unintentionally brings together her skating coach, Choi Soo In, and Hwal together. DWT:He Who Can’t Marry

OK, so I'm up to episode 11 now, and I gotta say I'm decidedly irked by this drama. It's not so much that I'm disappointed because I was and still am enjoying the comedic scenes and the eye candy that is Jee Jin Hee aka Mr. Jo Jae Hee. What then could be the reason for my displeasure? Well, there are several things that as I've watched, stood out to me as unnecessary. On top of that there are even a few things that TOTALLY ruin (for me) what could otherwise be an awesome drama. If you've watched the full drama, or are at least up to epi 11, I'd like to know if you're on the same page as me. Let's see.....

1. Rush Rush Rush! : Maybe it's just me, but I feel like the drama is being rushed. They did a GREAT job setting up the main characters as frenemies and distinguishing their personalities, so I feel that now, in episode 11 (out of 16) it's WAY too early(or late?) for them to suddenly have romantic feelings. I'd rather they extended the series a few more episodes to make it more of a smooth turn than try to mash everything together. It doesn't flow naturally. Maybe they spent too much time on the conflict in their friendship to just go romance but there have been plenty of 16 episode dramas that have managed to gracefully make that transition

2. What's Your Age Again?!: OK, so the premise of this is the same as 40YO Virgin. And with that in mind, the character is understandably naive about certain situations. However, that doesn't mean his demeanor should be that of a prepubescent boy. Again, the drama has taken a turn for the awkward and it just seems like it's trying too hard to portray his innocence. Same goes for the leading lady played by Uhm Jung Hwa. She's supposedly had a fiance in the past...why is she acting like a green teen-aged girl!? It's supposed to be cute and whatever, but it's actually really annoying because I've watched countless dramas where one of the characters was a virgin-in-an-awkward-situation and there's no excuse. They're so unbelievable that I get pissed off ....the younger characters in the drama are much more realistic in their portrayals.

3. Late Bloomers?: This is one of the things that I think could have either been completely left out, or at least developed more in the earlier episodes. Suddenly, the mother of JJH is a major player along with the father of JMJ...me no likey. Well, Dr. Jang's father got more of a storyline than Jae Hee's mom, but it's so WEIRD now that they've got so much screen time and "control" over the situation...especially when beforehand Mom hardly had any effect in any of the scenes she was in. It would have been better for the viewer if she'd been a major player rather than the brother-in-law...who btw is annoying all around.
Sparks Don't Fly: Ok, after some thought I guess this point goes back to #1. There's no romantic chemistry between the two main characters....or even between the side characters for that matter. Case in point: Manager Yun has feelings for Director Hee I'm guessing...but it's only evident in the lines she's saying. Nothing in her body language gives the viewer this implication. Dr. Jang does a good job of trying to look like there's some tension between her and Dir. Hee, but it falls flat. Dir. Hee is just awkward, so it's hard to distinguish romantic feelings he may have vs his total social inadequacy. Again, this could all be due to the drama being rushed through and the characters not having enough time to develope gracefully, but the romances are so contrived that it's a buzz kill.

Again, this drama is really funny (like LOL-choke-on-your-drink-funny) but as far as romantics goes, it's actually quite eh. Maybe I'm being too quick to judge or I'm being nit picky because I'm comparing it to masterpieces like I'm Sorry I Love You and My Name Is Kim Sam Soon, but I'm going to finish watching these last 5 episodes before I dismiss it as an "almost"...if only for the LAWLS.

DWT:He Who Can't Marry(결혼 못하는 남자)

OK! So lately I've been watching this new drama called The Man Who Can't Marry (결혼 못하는 남자), I must say it's rather interesting. It's the Korean version of the Japanese drama of the same name (結婚できない男) 16 episodes total and so far I'm about halfway through. The drama centers around Mr. Cho Jae Hee (played by Ji Jin Hee/지진희), who is a successful architect. At 40 years old, Jae Hee is not only successful, but very handsome, however his personality makes it very difficult for people to like him. He's stubborn, opinionated, a little OCD and a know-it-all, which has led his his family to believe that no woman ever would want to be around him; let alone marry him and put up with his shenanigans.

Keeping all of this in consideration, Jae Hee seems to like his friendless and romantically void life but soon finds himself surrounded by 3 women: the pretty and caring Dr. Jang Moon Jung (played by Uhm Jung Hwa/ 엄정화), the cute and spunky next door neighbor Jung Yoo Jin (played by Kim So Eun/김소은) and his sophisticated , level headed colleague Yoon Ki Ran (played by Yang Jung Ah/양정아).

As the story unfolds we begin to see that you can't judge a book by it's cover, and whether or not Mr. Jae Hee, can't or won't get married.

Like I said, so far I'm about halfway through the 16 episodes and I'm really enjoying myself. There are times when I truly laughed out loud...very loud. As of today I'm on episode 6 and the comedic timing of Ji Jin Hee is perfect (not to mention he is really really handsome...like REALLY). I really like his character despite his lack of social skills! Uhm Jung Hwa does well with her character as usual, she's so charismatic it's kinda hard not to like her, however, I'm not too fond of all the surgery.I know it shouldn't be about that, but it's so obvious that it's distracting from her character (and natural beauty). Oh and I will say that I'm highly annoyed by the character Park Hyun Kyu (played by Yoo Ah In/유아인) but that's just because I hate that doe-eyed-pouty-thing that's popular with Kdramas...

DWT: The Rundown (pt3)

OK, The very last part of "The Rundown" before I get into discussing the dramas I'm currently watching is finally here! We last left off with me telling you guys how epic East of Eden was for me, and for a lot of people as well I'm sure. See, we all know as drama watchers, that during production EoE got lots of press for being big budget and having an all-star big name cast. That part isn't what made it epic, because we also know that it takes more than that to make magic. What totally blew me away was the way the acting, cinematography and story-line seamlessly flowed, which is probably why it also won many awards. Often times in dramas [both Korean and American soaps] leave me with a WTF?! face due to some horrible mistake that should have never existed [random character that doesn't need to be there, poor cinematography, etc] Anyway, East Of Eden was, for me, one of the best dramas out of Korea in the past couple of years.

First lets start with the acting. As mentioned before, the drama starred big name actors such as Song Seung Hun (송승헌), Yun Jung Hoon(연정훈),Jo Min Ki(조민기), Lee Da Hae(이다해),and Han Ji Hye(한지혜) just to name a few. And while some might say the performances weren't that great, I disagree. Remember I'm comparing it to other Kdramas I've seen, and by far East Of Eden's cast were the most realistic portrayals of people [not just Koreans] that I've seen in a drama. There wasn't the "deer in headlights" look that's popular with Kdramas and somehow passes for acting. The emotions seemed real and while it's easy to get caught up with a drama you're watching, East of Eden really drags you in. I don't want to say anything to spoil it if you haven't seen it yet, but within the first 5 minutes I was hooked and telling my friends about it [yes I pressed pause JUST to call my friends and yell that they should watch]. It wasn't about the eye-candy either [ok, partly it was but there's a lot of action scenes that will satisfy the guys too!]

Now, lets talk about storyline: Basically the story is about two families and how their fates are intertwined. Everything from murder, to [realistically] switched-at-birth babies, marriages, betrayals and forgiveness; the two families cannot seem to get away from each other. One family poor, the other rich, it's an interesting portrayal of how human characteristics such as greed and ambition can make or break a person.

The drama is about two men whose fates are crossed from the very first day that they were born. When he was a young boy, Lee Dong Chul witnessed the death of his father. From then on he promised to seek revenge on Shin Tae Hwan, the man who caused his father's death. But unbeknownst to everybody is the fact that Dong Chul's younger brother, Dong Wook, was switched at birth with Tae Hwan's son, Myung Hun. Dong Wook grows up to become a prosecutor and vows to help his brother seek revenge. But what happens when they find out that they're not brothers? What will Dong Chul do when he finds out that his real brother was raised by Shin Tae Hwan and that the brother that was beside him all these years is the son of his enemy?

Now doesn't that seem interesting!? I want to talk about the cinematography now. This drama was shot in beautiful locations and was captured with such breathtaking grace. Lots of times I've watched dramas where the actors would either be overpowered by the scenery or visa versa. East of Eden's film crew did an amazing job of balancing out the two so that the viewer doesn't miss what's going on in the actual story but still gets to appreciated the background.

Another thing I want to say is that this drama is probably one of the few dramas where English is spoken for a good portion of the drama.In fact if I'm not mistaken the majority of the actors speak English as a second [or even third] language! SWEET! There are scenes where I was truly impressed by the length of time spent speaking in English. Albeit there are accents, but c'mon, you try speaking in a foreign language with no accent. In my opinion, English is a hard language to master so I give props to anyone who gives it a go!

And last but not least...EYE CANDY! OMG everyone in this drama is extremely attractive...even the elder people. But it's not that plastic attractiveness. Everyone's got a charm that fits their character's personality perfectly. Both guys and girls can appreciate all of the eye candy floating around in this drama. Even looking a hot mess and evil, the actors somehow manage to make it look good. WRQ!

If you haven't seen this drama yet, I totally recommend it. Trust me it's one of the best! It even features some of the actors from Yellow Handkerchief [and if you read my last DWT post you'll know how much I LOVED that drama!] So seriously, if you've got a hour to spare, head over to DramaFever and just watch the first episode at least. Then come back and tell me if you love it! If you've already seen it, ISN'T IT AWESOME!? I think I may even watch it a second time. once I've finished my latest batch of dramas....

DWT: The Rundown (pt2)

And I'm back! Were you waiting?! Let's pretend that for the past week you were anticipating the continuance of my Rundown. If not then, Sorry for the delay. Life is busy...super busy! Perhaps I should script my own Kdrama--I tell you sometimes I feel like I'm in one. Anywho, yes. where were we? Yellow Handkerchief and it's hypnotic spell over me; that's where we were!

Like I said, I was in it to win it with this drama, like I was part of the cast. I can still hear the opening music and I STILL get giddy thinking about it. Unfortunately, I never got to see all of the episodes. I think the last thing I saw was when JaYoung ( played by Lee Tae Ran//이태란) tells her slimy ex-boo of 10 years Lee SangMin (played by Kim HoJin //김호진) that she's preggers and he still leaves her for that slimier bitch Jo MinJoo (played by Choo SangMi//추상미). WOOO! It was on and poppin...until I moved back to NY and couldn't get the station any longer. I've been searching all over for a site that has all of the episodes in HD to watch but I've no luck yet. Hopefully someday DramaFever will add it to it's roster along with the newer shows they're including *cough* because it truly is a mesmerizing drama!

Moving on, I have to say that I went through a spell of being a big fan of actress Lee Yuri( 이유리 ) after her super cute/cool role in Yellow Handkerchief so for a while I spent time watching her movies along with works from my other favorite actors. When I eventually went back to watching Kdramas, I was recommended to watch Stairway To Heaven, which I loved. However it was such a sad story from beginning to end that I was completely drained and wanted something more upbeat. Enter My Name Is Kim Sam Soon (내 이름은 김삼순)[site]. HILARIOUS and touching, this story made me feel really happy that here was this sassy woman who was no-nonsense and not your typical beauty being the center of affection AND got the guy! Especially in a genre of entertainment where for the most part the women roles all fit the same mold. You GO SamSoon!

Next in my comedic relief line-up of dramas starred another favorite actresses, Lee Da Hae (이다해). Back to back I watched My Girl (마 이걸) and Hello Miss! (헬로 애기씨!) because she is such a delight to watch. Very comedic actress who's also capable of portraying depth. Both My Girl and Hello Miss! were enjoyable tales of young love without too much seriousness and impeding doom that's often accompanied with K-dramas. Yes there were tender moments, but the light-heartedness balanced it out perfectly. I'd totally recommend these to anyone who's in the mood to smile and feel good about love, friendships and family.

After watching these two, I went through another dry spell and didn't watch any dramas. Mainly due to having a busy class schedule, but also because I was content with the performances I'd just seen. So fast forward a few months to my most recent dramawatch and it's none other than the epic East Of Eden (에덴의 동쪽). This deserves a post unto itself, so I'm gonna have to hit you guys with another To Be Continued! See ya next week!
